The project was first started in 2002 by Melanie Thielker as a pure C
application using GTK+. It was later rewritten from scratch, using the
experience gathered from the first implementation, in C*+ using Qt.
The objective was to make a cleaner, more modularized application and
to be able to use the Jack sound server for low latency audio I/O and
multitrack soundcard support.

Jack was written by Paul Davis and others. See the Jack AUTHORS file for
credits on this tremendous piece of work.

The original theme, "Metallic", was designed and implemented by
Melanie Thielker.

The BPM detection routines were written by Olli Parviainen <oparviai@iki.fi>
and modified my Melanie Thielker to produce more accurate results on
music with a steady, metronome beat (aka disco music, house, etc.)
Denis de Leeuw Duarte provided code, helpful insight and valuable pointers
to get the build procedure GNUified.
