Thanks for downloading Media Mate. For installation instructions, take
a look at the INSTALL text file, to upgrade from older versions Media
Mate or Movie Mate, read the UPGRADING text file.

What is Media Mate? Simply put, it's a web-based framework for
different database modules. It comes with a Movies module, that helps
you keep track of who's loaned videos or DVDs from your personal movie
library, and also to show your collection to the world on the Internet.

Why does such a ridiculously simple program exist? After looking
through the Freshmeat.net software listings, I couldn't find a program
that would let me do what I was after. All I needed was a way to store
details about my movies in a database, and keep track of who had
borrowed them from me. Nothing suited my needs, so Movie Mate was born.

Fast forward twelve months, and we saw a need to keep track of other
media like books and CDs. We then made it all modular and called it
Media Mate. We release Media Mate with the Movies Module, but more
modules are on their way. If you write a module, please let us know so
that we can share it with the world.

Media Mate is a framework to interface with different modules. The
framework has support for multiple users, CSS themes and has the ability
for modules to send messages via Jabber or Email.

The Movies Module has support for borrowing and reserving movies.
Recently added is automatic movie input using IDMB, and borrowing time
is now configurable per-transaction.

We welcome suggestions on how to improve Movie mate, send us feedback by
emailing us at MediaMate@rocks.cc

Media Mate is primarily being developed on Debian GNU/Linux 3.0
platform, using Apache and MySQL with PHP modules. With the exception
of the javascript and some patches, the code was originally written by
Tony Collins.

Last thing - We are not responsible if you manage to hose your web
server or any databases by using this program, ok?
