Finding programs

The Start New Programs button makes it easy to find and open a new program from the Home Screen. When you click the Start New Program button, the Program Launcher opens with all of the programs that are installed on your device.

	NOTE:	To add or remove programs, refer to the Installing new programs chapter.

Programs with similar purposes are grouped together using the following categories:

●	Internet—Programs that access and work through the Internet
●	Media—Programs that play music and videos
●	Utilities—Maintenance programs
●	Work—Spreadsheet, word processor, and presentation programs
●	Play—Fun programs like games
●	All—Every program installed on the device

To start a new program:

1.	Click Start New Program. The Program Launcher opens.
2.	Click the program you want to open.

	NOTE:	To exit the Program Launcher, click the Home icon in the bottom-left of the Home Screen.

The following table lists the programs that are installed on the device.

Program		Purpose
Internet programs
	Skype	Make phone calls and video conference calls over the Internet.
	Pidgin	Chat with friends.
	Thunderbird	Send, receive, view, and manage e-mail.
	Web Browser	Access the Internet.
Media programs
	HP MediaStyle	Listen to music, view photos, and watch movies.
	Cheese	Take photos and video with the integrated webcam.
Utilities
	Calculator	Perform basic and advanced calculator functions.
	Text Editor	Create and edit text files.
	Nautilus file manager	Manage your files and programs.
Work programs
	Calendar	Schedule and manage activities.
	Open Office Word Processor	Design and produce text documents that include graphics, tables, or charts.
	Open Office Presentation	Create presentations.
	Open Office Drawing	Create simple and complex drawings and export them into a number of common image formats.
	Open Office Spreadsheet	Calculate, analyze, and manage information.
	PDF Viewer	View PDF files.
Play programs
	AisleRiot Solitaire	Play a collection of card games.
	Chess	Play a strategy board game.
	Gnometrics	Play a falling-block game.
	Sudoku	Play logic puzzles.
